We are pleased to confirm that the The Kestrel TSCM ® Professional Software is specifically designed to operate from (DC to 325 GHz) making it fully scalable for integration with virtually all commercial, government, military and space applications depending on specified end-user requirements, and receiver support capability, and technological limitations.
Graphical User Interface (GUI)
Our operator centric, work flow-based Graphical User Interface (GUI) design promotes excellent situational awareness, by grouping and dynamically linking essential control elements, and utilizes predictive logic and intelligent automation to minimize operational deployment complexity, maximizing the Probability of Detection (POD) and Probability of Intercept (POI).
Our unique Graphical User-Interface (GUI)design is intuitive, work-flow based, and operator centric.
The GUI conveniently places all essential display and control groups, up-front and accessible to the operator unlike the often complex navigational structure, common to test and measurement resources.
There is no need for the technical operator to cycle through endless layers of essential controls, other software applications that are designed on the same old concepts as found on many obsolete analog receivers and spectrum analyzers, typically designed for test and measurement roles.

RF Spectral Display (RSD)
The RF Spectrum Display (RSD) is an important visual display element found on all spectrum analyzers, and is perhaps one of the most essential and more familiar features of the Kestrel TSCM ® Professional Software.
RSD is utilized by the operator to observe the ambient RF spectrum
environment in the frequency domain, and observe discrete signal
characteristics, as individual signal events that occur across multiple
receivers, or analyzers, and designed to support multiple spectrum
ranges, or custom band allocations.
There are a wide variety of advanced and new concept technical operator control groups that may be utilized to display spectral data for analysis and review, both during active collection, and post analysis review.
The Kestrel TSCM ® Professional Software, supports advanced functionality including, a Positional Zoom Control (PZC) that provides the technical operator with the real-time ability to interactively view any discrete signal event by zooming in up to 200x across the ROI, using mouse control functionality.
The ability to adjust the RSD reference level scaling is also fully supported, and is totally independent of the Waterfall Display (WFD) scaling giving the technical operator an unprecedented display capability.
It is this type of innovative milestones that allows Kestrel to soar high above the competition.
A wide variety of visual trace options are available to the technical operator, including a Real-Time Event (RTE) trace, a Peak Envelope Capture (PEC) trace and a Spectral Average Trace (SAT), are all available to enhance the Probability of Technical (POD) and minimize unwanted RF display clutter.
Our sophisticated multiple window TAB system, allows the technical operator to actively sweep any number of custom spectrum band allocations, or specific Ranges of Interest (ROI), as part of the overall sweep collective.
The ability to sweep and display any number of independent spectrum windows is fully supported, and for the first time, provides the technical operator with multiple virtual spectrum analyzers.
The ability to sweep multiple bands, and utilize multiple search receivers or analyzers of different types, is fully supported and is yet another true development milestone found as a standard feature within the Kestrel TSCM TM Professional Software.
Multiple Spectrum Windows
The ability of the technical operator to actively display, search and analyze any number of independent spectral range windows, is another development milestone that is not found on any other TSCM specific application.
Multiple window support permits any number of totally independent search ranges to be setup and viewed on a primary display monitor as standard windows TABS, moved to a second, or even third display monitor for viewing, monitoring and analysis.
The ability to quickly select and view any portion of a currently displayed ROI, and open a new focused zoom window is fully supported utilizing the "Open New Band" selection tool, and "SOLO" mode.
The "SOLO" mode adds an entirely new "sweep" gear, giving real-time priority to the new focused zoom window during runtime.
Waterfall Display (WFD)
The Kestrel TSCM ® Professional Software includes a Waterfall Display (WFD) and advanced Waterfall Trace Recorder (WTR) that provide the ability to immediately observe and review any new signal events, as they occur in the time domain, without interrupting the collection process.
The Kestrel TSCM ® Professional Software ability to immediately review spectral events is fully supported utilizing our exclusive, Live View Analysis (LVA) TM feature.
The ability to detect, identify and visually verify signal events as they occur in the frequency, or time domain is fully supported.
The ability to capture and review a wide variety of burst signals, including Frequency Shift Keying (FSK), Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum (FHSS), Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum (DSSS) and other intermittent or periodic signals, is fully supported in the Kestrel TSCM TM Professional Software.
The ability to detect or capture any particular signal type is a function of the search receiver capability, sweep speed, antenna type, and many other factors during the deployment process.
The technical operator has full and unrestricted control of the data collection process and may schedule multiple activity schedules to include our Delay Start Mode (DSM), or the ability to collect spectral data for a specified period of time, allowing for multiple start and stop events to occur at the band or receiver level.
The default continuous mode, permits the technical operator to collect spectrum and waterfall data uninterrupted, on a continuous basis, until the software is manually stopped the the operator.
Our unique multiple event activity scheduling capability is TSCM specific functionality that is an absolutely essential deployment critical, feature.
Our Kestrel Defined Monitor (KDM) deployment technique brings a new and sophisticated capability to extend the typical "time-on-target" limitation that virtually all technical operators face on a day to day basis in the field.
All RF spectrum and waterfall data is captured and stored on the host computer hard-drive, and allows the technical operator to utilize our Live View Analysis (LVA) TM capability, in both real-time, and during post analysis review.
This capability allows the technical operator to playback specific spectral time events during runtime collection, and post event analysis.
Independent waterfall reference level scaling is another powerful tool that permits the technical operator to display the RSD and WFD at different reference level display settings, to significantly enhance the graphical colour representation of the WFD, while promoting strong situational awareness.
Graticule Control Group
Our intelligent Graticule TAB based windowing control group allows the technical operator to easily setup, navigate, view and analyze, multiple instances of independent spectrum and waterfall data, in a familiar windows style TAB based format.
The ability to open identical spectrum windows, and monitor the same band remotely on another display is also fully supported.
The technical operator is able to set a wide range of global and independent viewing preferences, for each currently active spectrum window.
Positional Zoom Control (PZC)
Navigating the RF spectrum has never been this easy!
The technical operator can utilize the mouse wheel on the spectral display to focus and direct the desired zoom level.
The operator can navigate and control the spectrum, within the Positional Zoom Control (PZC) window.
A double mouse click activates a 20x zoom factor, and a second double click activates a 100x zoom factor.
A right mouse click allows the operator select from a list of predictive logic zoom control options, based on the current CF displayed on the Graticule.
A 200x manual zoom is also available to further focus attention on the SOI utilizing the mouse wheel.
Kestrel TSCM ® Professional Software, Drag and Drop Technology (DDT) TM, is fully supported to and from the Automatic Threat List (ATL), and focuses the SOI at CF with an automatic 20x zoom factor.
The Drag and Drop Technology (DDT) TM, feature can be utilized to direct the demodulation center frequency process, utilizing our "on-the-fly" drag and drop capability.
The Kestrel TSCM ® Professional Software, spectrum control group supports the ability to set the CF, SPAN, START and STOP frequency.
The ability of the Differential Signal Analysis (DSA) feature, to display any number of location based, peak trace spectra, is significantly enhanced by the power of the Kestrel TSCM TM Professional Software, advanced Positional Zoom Control (PZC), to easily view the entire ROI, or any specific SOI, in significant detail with an incredible 200x zoom factor.
This functionality allows the technical operator to identify even minor noise-floor, amplitude differences.
Live View Analysis (LVA) TM
Real-time analysis and review, of continuous and intermittent signal events, is now possible without the need to interrupt the data collection process.
This is another first for the Kestrel TSCM ® Professional Software.
Real-time signal event analysis and review of discrete spectral events is supported, without the need to stop, or otherwise interrupt, the collection process, and provides the technical operator with the ability to instantly review historical trace data on the RSD and WFD, on a trace by trace basis.
The ability to review any spectral event in near real-time, with uninterrupted data collection, permits operator analysis of any SOI as soon as it has occurred.
Live View DSA (LVD) TM
The capability of the technical operator to collect Differential Signal Analysis (DSA) data in the background, while reviewing and analyzing specific location based comparative traces, without any interruption of the collection process, is an important milestone found only in the Kestrel TSCM TM Professional software.
The technical operator can use the LVD feature during active DSA peak trace collection, or for the purpose of post analysis review while examining historical Kestrel Project Files (KPF).
All mission critical display related functionality including our positional zoom control, and optional graphical display parameters, are preserved and available at any time, to adjust viewing preferences.
Trace Math Analysis (TMA) TM
The ability of the technical operator to select and display a standard differential trace math comparative for any two (2) locations is supported.
The DSA window displays all available DSA locations that are available for selection based on (A - B) or (B - A) comparison.
This is a feature found on virtually every spectrum analyzer and is an excellent, time tested and proven feature, specific to supporting TSCM deployment.
The technical operator can dynamically drag any two (2) of the available DSA antenna location ICONS directly to the docking station, and display a dedicated differential trace.
Unlimited, antenna location based Graphical Comparative Analysis (GCA) TM is fully supported.
The combination of a technologically sophisticated Threat Detection Algorithm (TDA) TM and our intelligent Signal Combining Technology (SCT) TM permits the Kestrel TSCM TM Professional Software to accurately capture and display wide bandwidth signals during capture.
SCT is the first step in accurately characterizing the Signal of Interest (SOI), and is considered to be the first step toward elementary modulation analysis.
Demodulation and Visualization
The technical operator can quickly demodulate and record audio samples of AM, FM, USB and LSB signals, for inclusion within the Kestrel Project File (KPF) structure.
Sample audio files might be utilized as evidence, or the development of a audio database, and for training purposes.
There are a number of advanced demodulation controls available to the technical operator.
The ability to set the Centre Frequency, IF Bandwidth, and set various audio filter option, provide a set of powerful analysis tools.
Our AF Spectrum Display (ASD), fully supports the ability to analyze discrete signal events, including the ability to display Sub-Carrier Audio (SCA) signals, and other unique signal characteristics at the baseband level.
Fast-Fourier Transform (FFT)
The Kestrel TSCM ® Professional Software supports the ability to display various real-time FFT windows within the demodulation control group, including, a real-time RF Display (RFD), IQ Display (IQD), Audio Oscilloscope Display (OSD), RSSI History Display (RHD) and an Analog RSSI Display (ARD).
Kestrel TSCM ® Professional Software, utilizes the fastest FFT algorithm currently available on the commercial market.
Threat Detection Algorithm (TDA)
Active Threat Detection (ATD) TM modes include, our Minimum Detection Amplitude (MDA) capture, Harmonic Signature Threshold (HST) algorithm, and our analog audio transmitter, Chirp Threat Mode (CTM).
The detection of analog audio transmitters is fully supported utilizing the Chirp Threat Mode (CTM) to actively chirp the target area and positively identify active hostile emitters.
Utilizing the Harmonic Signature Threshold (HST), allows the technical operator to capture and flag harmonic relationships.
Differential Signal Analysis (DSA) TM
Our advanced graphical DSA model permits an extremely detailed and precise target area comparative analysis by comparing unique spectral data, consisting of the entire ROI, or discrete SOI.
Our advanced concept DSA can be utilized in several different operational modes depending on specific deployment requirements.
DSA allows the technical operator to collect individual comparative peak traces from any number of target area locations, by date and time.
External Geographical Area Review (GAR) TM peak spectrum trace data, and / or specific target area peak spectrum data, can be directly compared.
Unlike, traditional spectrum analyzer trace math, the Kestrel TSCM ® Professional Software fully supports MDA, HST and CTM spectral marker flag threat and signal integration display.
This unique capability adds another important analysis layer that is designed to significantly enhance the Probability of Detection (POD) during runtime.
Spectrum Baseline Logging (SBL) TM
The technical operator can quickly capture a detailed SBL list of all target area signal events based on an operator defined Above Ambient Noise Floor (AANF) threshold.
This feature is designed to capture a clean signal list, without any active threat detection.
Spectrum Baseline Logging (SBL) TM is a very powerful feature that is referenced to the Ambient Noise Floor (ANF), under the full control of the technical operator.
Session Report Generator (SRG) TM
Our Kestrel Project File (KPF), is an integral component of the overall project file management structure.
The SRG functionality provides a level of sophistication never before seen within a TSCM specific software application.
The SRG is fully integrated and allows for real-time, "On-The-Fly" ad-hoc report generation, as well as any number of final report versions, automatically saved as a standard Portable Document File (PDF).
The Session Report Generator (SRG) also allows the technical operator to capture graphical plots of the RF Spectral Display (RSD) and Waterfall Display (WFD), for inclusion within the report.
It is also possible to export any of the threat or signal lists as a (.CSV) file format for editing, or analysis, in third party productivity software.
Automatic Threat Lists (ATL) TM
A sidebar ATL provides immediate access to all discrete signals identified and captured, including the frequency and signal level (dBm).
A separate Master ATL window provides additional signal parameters including any harmonic relationships, frequency (MHz), signal level (dBm), estimated bandwidth, date and time of collection, and location details.
The technical operator can also include a signal category, and enter field notes, relating to each discrete signal.
Signal events are placed on a uniquely colour coded tabbed table, and duplicated on the master ATL for amazing clarity.
Our unique Drag and Drop Technology (DDT), permits any detected signal to be demodulated, or dragged onto the Graticule, to immediately activate a 20x Positional Zoom Control (PZC) focus on the Signal of Interest (SOI).
There is also a 100x PZC capability, and the technical operator may further zoom up to 200x manually.
Dual Receiver Operation (DRO)
The ability to actively deploy a primary and secondary search, or hand-off receiver, provides the technical operator with a wide range of advanced deployment, TSCM specific functionally.
When dual receivers are available, the ability to to demodulate a Signal of Interest (SOI) is possible without interrupting the collection process as would occur with a Single Receiver Operation (SRO).
Multiple Receiver Operation (MRO)
The (optional) ability to actively deploy a primary and any number of secondary search, or hand-off receivers, provides the technical operator with a wide range of advanced deployment, TSCM specific functionally, which is ideal for distributed, managed, remote spectrum surveillance and monitoring assignments.
The ability to mix and match different search receiver, or analyzer types, is also fully supported during runtime.
For example, it is possible to deploy and Anritsu Spectrum Master (43 GHz), Signal Hound (6.0 GHz) and a ThinkRF (27 GHz) receiver, with full spectrum and demodulation "hand-off", "on-the-fly" without interrupting the data collection process across any of the search receivers, within the device bandwidth.
Professional Search Receiver Support
The Kestrel TSCM ® Professional Software supports the budget friendly, digital Signal Hound SDR (1 Hz to 4.4 GHz) and (100 kHz to 12.4 GHz) SA series receivers and the (9 kHz to 6 GHz) BB series receivers.
Support for the Anritsu ("C" Series) hand-held portable spectrum analyzers is also available.
For professional applications requiring a broad band, high speed (24 GHz per second) hardware solution, support for the Signal Hound (BB60C) Real-time Spectrum Analyzer and RF Recorder is strongly recommended.
Integration and control software support for the Rhode & Schwarz (R&S) EM100 and PR100 compact search receivers is available.
Other receiver options include the Tektronix RSA306, Shearwater TSCM Merlin MK3, CRFS RFeye and NEXUS receivers round out the support list.
Additional integration and software support for a number of additional search receivers and spectrum analyzers are currently under development.
Advanced Signal Intelligence Database (ASID)
The Kestrel TSCM ® Professional Software includes a sophisticated multiple level database, with the ability to search both the FCC and TAFL data across North America.
Our FDB search and query features provide both geographical reference searches and Free Space Power (FSP) searches.
The ASID is fully integrated with our Operator Signal List (OSL) and provides never before seen functionality, permitting OSL comparative analysis across multiple project files at the operator level.
The OSL feature permits the technical operator to generate any number of reference database files, maintain multiple files, recall and display signal entries against the current real-time RF Spectrum Display (RSD).
Dynamic Alert Annunciator (DAA)
The Kestrel TSCM ® Professional Software includes a fully integrated Dynamic Alert Annunciator (DAA) that permits unlimited automatic signal event detection across multiple search receivers or analyzers, as well as multiple band allocations, or any technical operator defined Range of Interest (ROI).
Our unique RED / GREEN visual indicator and audio alert capability provides a true GO / NO GO verification for live facility monitoring and SCIF environments.
The ability to detect signal loss and exceed threshold limits, resulting in generated alerts, can be programmed independently, for unprecedented and powerful operator based analysis.
